Uploading OVA images to Cloud Director
Introduction
Uploading exported OVA images to Cloud Director sometimes fails due to OVA formatting, this guides helps in simplifying the process.
Prerequisites
Access to local ESX or vCenter server where source virtual machine template resides.
Catalog created in VDC service
Procedure
Download OVF Tool from VMware, https://www.vmware.com/support/developer/ovf/ (See OVF Tool documentation for further information, https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1038709 )
OVF Tool usage
syntax: ovftool.exe vi://<vcenter-name>/<DC-NAME>/vm/vm-name <Folder path to save the OVA file\ova-name.ova> example: ovftool.exe vi://vc-01.md.lab/MD-LAB/vm/web-01 E:\vm-export\web-01.ova
Once OVF image is successfully exported, log in to portal, https://portal.cloudist.se
Select Virtual Data Center service
Select the Virtual Datacenter you want to upload images to
In Cloud Director interface, select Applications and click ADD VAPP FROM OVF
Select Catalog and upload OVF image
