Restoring VMs

Introduction

This guide is to show how to restore protected VMs already backed up by the Cloudist Solutions VDC backup feature

Prerequisites

Backup has been applied to Virtual Machine at least 24h prior to attempting restore.

Procedure

To restore a VM

  • Log in to https://portal.cloudist.se

  • Select Virtual Data Center service

  • Select Virtual Datacenter and click on the Virtual Datacenter name

  • Once logged into Cloud Director interface and proper Virtual Datacenter, click More, then Data Protection

  • Click Recovery then Recover

  • Click VM

  • Search for a VM to restore

    • Tip: Can can you use * to search all available VMs

 

  • Select the VM to restore and click Continue.

  • In the Restore VM page, select the snapshot and provide a prefix and suffix.
    Note: Prefix or suffix is required to ensure that the VM name is unique.

  • By default, the VM is restored back to the original location. However, you can choose to recover to a new location by toggling on the option.

  • Click Restore

  • In the Confirmation dialog, click Yes.
