Introduction

VMs can sometimes not be deleted. Adding them to a temporary vApp solves the issue.

Prerequisites

N/A

Procedure

  • Log in to https://portal.cloudist.solutions

  • Select Virtual Data Center

  • Select the region you where your VDC exists, and click on Log in to VDC

  • Click on the VDC where the virtual machine you would like to delete resides

  • When you try to delete the VM, you might get a response similar to this:

  • When you check for vApps, the VM in question does not belong to any visible vApp

  • Click the dots next to VM, select “Convert to vApp“

  • The VM now belongs to a vApp

  • You can now go ahead and delete the VM to empty the vApp, and once that is done you can delete the vApp.
