While Microsoft is a reliable service provider with geographical replication and very high uptime, they are only responsible for service availability and infrastructure, not the data that you as a customer store. Microsoft do not backup data in the traditional sense, they archive data and give administrators limited tools to restore data, and if a user license is removed, the mailbox for that user is archived for 30 days and then it is removed. |

To calculate the number of licenses you need, count the number of users within your Office 365 subscription. You do not need to count the same user more than once across multiple Office 365 services (e.g. the same Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business user = one Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 user). |
