Recover or Download Files or Folders

Introduction

This guide is to show how to restore files or folders of virtual machines backed up by the Cloudist Solutions VDC backup feature

Prerequisites

You will need credentials for the virtual machine guest OS to authenticate the operation of restoring a file or folder.

Procedure

To recover a file or folder

  • Log in to https://portal.cloudist.se

  • Select Virtual Data Center service

  • Select Virtual Datacenter and click on the Virtual Datacenter name

  • Once logged into your VDC, click More, then Data Protection

 

  • Click Recovery, Recover and then Files and Folders option, search for a specific file, or a partial name, or use a wildcard expression such as * to search.

  • Select the file and click Continue.

 

  • From the list of snapshots, select the recovery point which will be applied to all the files or folders recovered in this task.

  • Click Restore to Server

  • Enter all the configuration details.

  • Enter the user credentials for the VM and choose a snapshot. You can also choose to recover to a new location, in which case the recovery path should be mentioned (please note the format in the screenshot below).

  • Click Restore

  • If you have chosen Browse or Specify Path, then enter the VM name to search, select the VM, click Continue.

    • From the tree structure, browse and select the file that you want to recover, and click Continue. Fill in the configuration details and click Restore.

  • You can also download files locally.

    • Search for the file, click Continue, select the snapshot and click Download Now

    • To download the file, navigate to Recovery, click on the Download-VCD-Files-XXX link provided under Task Name
